The first two (2) pictures were taken on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at approximately 3:00 pm. This is the same day when approximately 40 dedicated individuals associated with the Conococheague Watershed Alliance cleaned up the site around the former Siloam Dam, on Siloam Road approximately 1/4 mile off Route 11 in Greene Township. Many individuals, businesses and other organizations took part in this cleanup/restoration effort including Greene Township.

Greene Township officials were contacted by Jeff Taylor, President of the Conococheague Watershed Alliance, and were asked to haul away the large trees and brush that was collected around the former Dam site, so as to allow the water to flow more freely, and for beautification purposes and safety concerns. Our own Greene Township Supervisors, who support community members and projects and who are proactive in protecting the environment, committed to hauling away the trees and brush.

The next three (3) pictures were taken on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 8:00 am, as a Greene Township crew was sent to the site and the cleanup began. The small loader made numerous trips to load the Greene Township dump truck, and the trees and brush were taken to the Greene Township Compost Facility, located off Mickey’s Inn Road, and turned into beneficial mulch that is available for purchase to Greene Township residents. A total of five (5) dump truck loads were hauled to the Compost Facility. The dedicated Greene Township crew spent until about noon on this worthwhile project recycling the materials into mulch.
